Guest Lecture: Internationalization of Higher Education in East Asia

The internationalization of higher education has become a central component of global academic development, enhancing institutional quality, intercultural competence and graduate employability. In East Asia, this process has gained significant momentum, supported by rapid economic growth, government initiatives and aspirations for global competitiveness. Universities in countries and regions such as China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong and Singapore increasingly engage in cross-border partnerships, joint research and international student mobility to attract global talent. As a result, East Asian higher education systems are emerging as dynamic hubs of international collaboration and academic excellence. In this guest lecture, we will explore these issues through the lens of an international scholar residing in Hong Kong.
